Practical information > Reaching the meeting

The meeting will take place in the Coriolis room at the Institut de Recherche en Astrophysique et Planétologie (IRAP, part of the Observatoire Midi-Pyrénées, OMP), Toulouse, France on the Belin site (14 avenue Edouard Belin, 31400 Toulouse).

Arriving in Toulouse:

By air :

Toulouse is well served by the Toulouse-Blagnac airport about 10 km north-west of the centre of Toulouse.  To get to your hotel from the airport, take either the bus (navette), or a taxi (26-47 euros, depending on the destination - the town centre is 37€). Note that the tram line T2 no longer runs.

By train:

The main train station is Toulouse Matabiau (link in French only). It is located just a few hundred metres from Jean d'Arc and Jean Jaurès. There are many hotels in this area of Toulouse as it is very close to the centre of Toulouse (Capitole).

By car:

Toulouse is well linked to other major French cities as well as neighbouring Spanish and Italian cities by road.

Hotels

There are no hotels near the institute (nor cash points), so we recommend you get a hotel in the town centre, close to Jeanne d'Arc or Jean Jaurès. The metro line B runs through from these places in town (every couple of minutes) and down to the University Toulouse III (~10 minute ride). See the 'Arriving at IRAP' section for more information. Please note that Toulouse is an extremely popular destination and hotels fill up early.

Please note we are not working with any specific companies to provide hotels, so please do not reply to spam emails offering accomodation for the meeting.

Arriving at IRAP:

To get from your hotel to IRAP, you can either take the metro line B  in the direction of Ramonville (1.80€ if you pay with your credit card directly, slightly more expensive if you buy a reusable ticket) and get off at Faculté de Pharmacie, from where you can walk (~15 minutes) to IRAP or take the bus 78 (using the same ticket as you used for the metro - don't forget to stamp it again) in the direction of St Orens Lycée and get off at the CNES/IAS stop. The bus goes every 20 minutes. Alternatively you could get off the metro at Ramonville and take either the bus 27 (get off at the ENAC stop) or 37 (get off at the CNES/IAS stop). Both busses start at Ramonville metro station. You can  plan your journey here!

Alternatively you can walk along the canal (~50 minutes) or take one of the bikes to hire. There are stations all around town and a couple close to our institute. You can find out more information here (website in French), but the essentials are that it is 1.20€ to hire the bike for <24 hours. Be aware that the bike stations (to return bikes) close to our institute can fill up quickly in the morning. The final alternative is to take a taxi, but  traffic is very heavy between 08:00 and 10:00 and again between 17:00-19:00.

If you wish to come by car, there is plenty of free parking at IRAP.
